Streetscape was engaged to deliver major structural repairs to the external façade of a Richmond pub at 57–59 Church Street, which had suffered significant damage due to invasive tree root activity.
Works began with the careful demolition of the compromised solid brick façade and removal of temporary supporting structures previously installed to stabilise the building. Temporary propping was then introduced to support internal load-bearing walls and floors throughout the restoration.
To address the underlying cause of the damage, underpinning of the original bluestone foundations was undertaken, followed by the installation of a new root barrier foundation to protect against future impact. The project culminated in the reconstruction of the external heritage façade, restoring the building’s original character while ensuring its structural integrity for years to come.
Delivered with precision and care, this project balanced heritage sensitivity with complex structural upgrades in a live urban setting.
